The CEPA Gallery announced the winners of their 2014 Exhibition Award from their CEPA/Big Orbit Members’ Exhibition last week. Villa Maria student Valerie Kasinski ’14 was one of this year’s three winners.
Kasinski was awarded for her piece, Together We Are, and Patti Ambrogi won for her piece,The Rebel Forest, from the series Geography of Desire. The artists will receive a solo exhibition of their work to take place at CEPA Gallery in February of 2015.
Scotty Bye whose winning sculpture, Slouch, was shown in the Big Orbit Gallery, will be presenting a site-specific installation in Big Orbit Gallery this summer.
Anna Kaplan, Director of the new BT&C Gallery, served as juror for this year’s show. A former Curatorial Assistant at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and current adjunct professor in Daemen College’s Visual & Performing Arts Department, Kaplan holds a MA in the History of Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture from the Bard Graduate Center and a BA in Art History and Italian Studies from Brown University.
A number of Villa Maria College students also had work in the exhibitions.
