In another impressive showing, Villa students and alumni won seven awards at AAF Buffalo‘s annual ADDYs — more than a third of the awards handed out in the student category. Students were recognized for their exceptional efforts on individual and group projects that were created during the 2018-2019 academic year. Their work was scored by three judges from the local advertising scene: Matt Low, vice president and creative director at Crowley Webb, Greg Meadows, creative director at Telesco Creative Group, and Kim Pentheros, a freelance art director and graphic designer.

Each year the ADDY Award Show puts the best of the best from the local advertising industry into one room. This year’s event, which took place on March 1 at Asbury Hall, was no different. According to AAF Buffalo, the ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest competition. Awards are earned in recognition of the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

“Villa Maria provides a unique environment that encourages creativity, professionalism and originality, said Julie Zack assistant professor of graphic design at Villa. “Our students thrive on the ability to express themselves and earn success. The awards are merely a reflection of their passion and skills. We’re continually inspired and impressed by them, even after they graduate.”

Since 2014, Villa Maria College students and alumni have amassed 14 gold ADDYs, 29 silver ADDYs and 3 best in shows. In addition to ADDYs, Villa Maria College students have won 1 people’s choice award and 2 district awards.
