Students returning to campus for the Fall 2022 semester have something to look forward to: a newly renovated dining hall!
“I’m very fond of saying Villa is home,” said Villa Maria’s President Dr. Matthew Giordano in a video that announced the project. “There’s no doubt that the heart of our home is the dining hall. It’s where our students congregate and hang out, it’s the place where one of our greatest Villa traditions, the Halloween Hijinx, takes place, it’s the place where families celebrate their graduates on the morning of Commencement, and much more.”
The current dining hall is original to the College, which first opened its doors in 1961. While the orange and white tiled floors and yellow chairs are iconic among the College community, the popular campus spot is in clear need of some upgrades.
Upon completion, the new space will be contemporary, modernized, and more functional for students, faculty, staff, and the entire Villa community. A portion of this project will be grant funded, and the College is seeking additional donors to cover the remaining costs.
The College will share more details about the dining hall renovation project as they become available. The contractor selection process is currently underway, with an anticipated start date in May 2022. The project should be completed by the start of the Fall 2022 semester, which begins on August 29, 2022.
