Grab Your Controller
…and get ready to work. Students enrolled in Villa Maria’s game design program can plan on learning by doing. Video games may begin on paper, but they end up as engaging works of art that require skill, strategy, creativity and collaboration to complete. Starting in their first semester, students take on projects that require them to go beyond the pages of a textbook and gain a true, comprehensive understanding of what it takes to design a video game.
See for yourself.
Game designers belong at Villa. You may have passed every iteration of Zelda, but do you know what it takes to develop a game, concept to controller? From storyline to pre-production, modeling to texture, development to distribution, Viking game designers learn by doing, going far beyond textbook instruction to get the full picture of what it takes to bring a game to fruition, not to mention thrive in this growing field.

The Career Potential
As video games continue to grow in popularity, so does the demand for those who understand what goes into creating them.
Employment of multimedia artists and animators is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected growth will be due to increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television.
