Motion Design can be thought of as the intersection between animation and graphic design; it’s everywhere: in advertising, movie titles, stadium graphics and social media. This in-person course exposes you to the foundational techniques and industry standard technology of motion design; the format is condensed but comprehensive and introduces students to one of the primary tools used by motion designers: Adobe After Effects. Build on your experience here to expand your professional skill set or break into the thriving Buffalo media industry. This course is run as five consecutive 3-hour classes; no prior experience needed.

- Discuss the purposes and use of motion design
- Experiment with the principles of animation
- Build the foundations to work in a thriving field
- Explore kinetic typography, compositing, digital puppet animation, color grading and more

Joshua Muntain is an assistant professor of animation at Villa Maria College. He holds a B.F.A. from Juniata College and an M.F.A. from Savannah College of Art and Design.
