Room 202 at the Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo on West Ferry St., has never looked so good, thanks to Villa Maria College Interior Design alumnae Jillian Schultz ’13 (pictured on the left,) Angela Girdlestone ’14 and Tara Clack ’14 who, together with faculty advisor Sandra Reicis, designed and finished the guest room in memory of Julia Roberts who lost her battle with cancer.
The Interior Design Association of Western New York invited the Interior Design program to work on the room which Roberts’ family and friends had raised money to dedicate in her honor. Using the provided theme of “Diamonds and dogs,” and inspired by a commissioned art work generously donated by watercolorist Laurie Herrmann and Lynne Rider of Rider Frames and Gallery, and one of Roberts’ dog Opal, the team created a color palette and got to work. On June 5, the results were open to the public for the first time at a dedication and ribbon cutting.
