Jada Rolle-Howard
Jada chose to become a fashion designer because ever since she was a little girl she loved fashion. Watching different shows and movies, such as That’s So Raven, Bratz, The Cheetah Girls, and many others gave her that passion for fashion that always stuck to her. She would even try and style her mother and tell her what she thought looked better for her to wear. Jada’s hopes for the future are to one day own her own business in the fashion industry and and to have an online website, she also hopes to expand her horizons in the cosmetology field, because fashion and cosmetology go hand and hand.

I based my collection on an era that I always have loved: the late ’90s and early 2000s. I choose this time period because I feel like the culture and vibe was just so different. I loved the bright colors, the baggy clothes and also nice fit dainty clothing for the females but they also still looked tomboyish and unique. Hip hop and R&B music had such a huge impact on the culture during that time period. My target market is best described as teenagers and young adults that are trying to balance it all: going to school, working, and having a social life.
Nate’ Turner
At the age of 10 years old Nate’, discovered that she had the talent of drawing and crafting. At the age 15, she found her love for Japanese street fashion. She soon realized that Japanese brands didn’t carry plus-size clothing. After getting involved with online Japanese fashion communities, she found out that she wasn’t the only one with this problem and became inspired by other artists and indie brands within the Japanese fashion community. That’s when Nate’ found her calling. She wanted to make plus size Japanese-inspired clothing. In 2017, she graduated from high school and began her journey at Villa Maria College. She didn’t know how to use a sewing machine at all, but 4-years later she has sewn 6 outfits for her senior fashion show. She has come a long way and will always improve for years to come.

During the summer of 2020 I had lots of free time so I watched movies, tv shows, and listened to music. These things contained different time period themes and it inspired me, so I went with that theme and got to work on drawing my line. I wanted to make this line my typical colorful, fun, aesthetic but with the different approach of the timeline theme. I’m hoping to catch the audience’s attention and give them a basic idea of my personality through my work.
