Villa Maria College has been named a finalist in the 2021 Business First’s Best Places to Work. According to Business First, this acknowledgement places the College among a group of elite companies based right here in Western New York.
To qualify, full-time faculty, full-time staff and part-time staff who work year-round were asked to complete an employee engagement survey, which was developed by Quantum Workplace, leaders in the field of employee engagement. Finalists were selected based on the anonymous responses submitted by employees.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Buffalo Business First as one of the best places to work in the Buffalo area,” said Rick Pinkowski, Villa Maria’s vice president for finance. “I believe my feelings for Villa have been validated by the many positive survey responses of my colleagues here. Villa Maria College is the premier student-centered college in Western New York. This is because of the dedicated, resilient, and committed people who support our students and support one another day in and day out.”
The survey measured six key engagement categories focusing on communication employee needs, manager effectiveness, personal engagement, team dynamic, and trust in leadership. To ensure the results were statistically significant, Villa Maria College was required to have a minimum level of employee participation based on total number of employees.
Participating companies were ranked according to their overall score, which is calculated by compiling raw data from the questions on a 1-6 scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree) to find an average score that is then indexed to a 100-point scale. The total number of survey responses is factored into the overall score. Winners were chosen 100% based on the results of the survey and in essence by the employees themselves.
Best Places to Work winners will be announced at a virtual event that is scheduled for March 31, 201. Villa Maria College was also recognized as a best place to work in 2015 and 2017.
