Villa Maria College is set to host the second installation of “Wake up the World,” an art show featuring the works of consecrated religious men and women. An opening reception is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7 :00 p.m. The event will take place in the Library at Villa Maria College, 240 Pine Ridge Road, Buffalo, NY 14225.
Sponsored by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, this exhibit is an independent continuation of last year’s “Wake up the World,” a call from Pope Francis to religious orders to promote growth in the Church by way of attraction.
The show will feature the works of 20 local artists, both professional and hobbyist, who will be present on Tuesday evening. The works that will be presented include poetry, mixed media, oil, water color, wood construction, scrapbooking, crayon, ink, and more. Professional artists displaying their works include Rev. Michael F. Tunney, S.J., Father Thomas Ribits, OSFS and Sister Ann Therese Kelly of Villa Maria College.
The general exhibition runs from May 17, 2016 until June 7, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily. It is free and open to the public.
