For their senior project, the BFA graphic design students at Villa Maria College produce a comprehensive body of work. It represents the culmination of the visual communication and technical skills acquired throughout their undergraduate studies. It may include the branding and/or rebranding of both original or existing products, services and businesses with materials ranging from business systems to integrated marketing campaigns that include packaging, print advertising, and website design.

This is the 15th year that seniors have celebrated the completion of their projects at PRELUDE, our annual year-end gallery exhibition. This very popular event provides students the opportunity to showcase and display their work in a gallery setting. The venue inspires an energetic atmosphere where they meet, greet and share their successes with family, friends, classmates, college administrators, Villa alumni and area design professionals. We’re also showcasing our students’ work in an online gallery format and thank you for viewing the contributions of the 2023 Prelude Exhibition.

We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate and commend Jakob, Cameron, and Kelsey on their incredible accomplishment. We’re so very proud of the dedication and commitment you’ve shown during this past year. We hope all of you take pride in all that you’ve achieved, especially this semester and throughout your time at Villa Maria. We know the future will be bright as you pursue your goals and further develop as designers and individuals. You’re forever part of our Villa family and we wish you all the best!

The Krusty Krab

The rebranding of the Krusty Krab – Bikini Bottom’s quintessential fast-food restaurant featuring its signature burger – the Krabby Patty.

Designer Bio

Cameron grew up in Clarence, New York and attended NCCC for Fine Arts. While there he decided to become a graphic designer because it was one of the things, he was NOT naturally good at. Cameron is a competitive person and is passionate about figuring out what separates good from bad design. After graduation, Cameron hopes to work for an ad agency or as a freelance designer.

Kelsey Sikora

Soleado

Soleado, a new authentic Mexican restaurant promising to offer a truly authentic and elevated dining experience. The menu features traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist, using only the freshest ingredients and innovative cooking techniques.

Designer Bio

Since an early age, Kelsey has always held a passion for art, whatever the medium. Once exposed to the world of graphic design, Kelsey couldn’t picture a career doing anything else. Funny enough, her mom and sister are also graphic designers, so you could say it runs in the family. She loves finding creative solutions involving clean design, perfectly paired type, and bold colors. She is very involved in the Buffalo design community and is looking forward to a bright future as a graphic designer.

Lockport Yard Bucks

The rebranding of the Double-A Eastern League Hartford Yard Bucks for their relocation to Lockport, New York.

Designer Bio

Soon after entering high school, Jake was asked what he wanted to do for a living. He wasn’t quite sure, but cars, sports, and art were of a particular interest to him. After taking a multimedia design class, he realized that he could combine his interests with the magic of graphic design. As his days as a student at Villa Maria come to end, he hopes to blend his interests and talents into the professional world of art and design.
