Local Scholarships

Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo

Since 1924 the Foundation has been awarding scholarships to students from Western New York. Awards are based primarily on financial need, although certain awards are also based on scholastic achievement and service.  Since 2000 the Foundation has awarded over $4.5 million in scholarships to thousands of local students.  

Qualifications:  Our scholarships are restricted to current residents of the eight counties of Western New York.  Several are limited to residents of specific counties (at the request of their donors), especially Erie County.
Students must have been admitted to a nonprofit [501(c)(3)], U.S. Department of Education accredited school in the United States for full-time study at the undergraduate level.  Applicants who permanently relocate outside Western New York are no longer eligible for funding.  Students who attend college outside Western New York remain eligible if they maintain a permanent residence in Western New York.

Deadline for Application:  2009 applications are due March 1, 2009 and accompanying Financial Aid information must be submitted by our office by April 1, 2009.


Erie County Agricultural Society Scholarship

Qualifications:  America's Fair, the Erie County Fair awards $9,000 annually in scholarship money.  High school graduates and/or college students in their freshman, sophomore or junior year that are enrolling or are currently enrolled in an accredited college pursuing studies in any, but not limited to the following fields:  Agriculture, Agri-Business, Ecology and Environmental Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Horticulture, Forestry and Natural Resources, or Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Technology

The Buffalo Urban League, Inc. awards scholarships to graduating high school students in our community to support their college education and career goals.

Qualifications: Scholarship awardees are selected based on their academic achievement, community service, character, and financial need

The Allentown Village Society Art Scholarships

Scholarships are a major result of the work the Allentown Village Society.  Proceeds from the annual Allentown Art Festival provide aid to many Buffalo and

Erie County students.  We are proud of the talent and dedication found in our local students. The Allentown Village Society will continue to encourage and support them in the pursuit of their chosen field.
