Verification is the process by which we confirm the information provided by students/parents on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can be selected for Verification by either the Federal Government or the college.
If you are selected for verification you will be notified by our office to provide us with signed copies of the following documents:
- Completed and signed verification worksheet.
- Student's (and spouse's) signed federal tax return for the most recent year.
- Student's W2 forms for all employers for the most recent year.
- If you are dependent we need your parent's signed federal tax return and W2 forms for the most recent year.
- Any other documentation of income such as (but not limited to) statements of retirement benefits, disability support and child support.
Until the verification process has been completed, no financial aid will be disbursed, Stafford and PLUS loan applications will not be certified, and a student may not work on a Federal Work-Study job.
The college will make any necessary corrections and transmit them to the federal processor. The processor will then send you an updated Student Aid Report (SAR) for your records.
Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions regarding this process.
