BUFFALO & WESTERN NEW YORK

Buffalo and the surrounding Western New York area offers some of the most beautiful scenery and places of interest throughout New York State.  We are home to some of the world's most renowned historical places, art collections, architectural and natural wonders.

waterfront-5-10.jpgWhile you are here, take some time to explore Niagara Falls.  Just a short 20-minute drive from campus and you are right in the middle of one of the seven wonders of the world where you can take a ride on the Maid of the Mist and get up close and personal to the living waters of the Falls.  You can also enjoy yourself on the beaches of Lakes Erie or Ontario or settle in for a night of camping nestled among the lush, green hillsides and lakes of the Allegheny Mountains under a star-filled night sky.  A bit more cosmopolitan?  Take a short, two-hour drive to Toronto, Ontario, where you'll find all the shopping, dining and waterfront activities of New York City!  In the winter, activities abound with the Festival of Lights, great skiing at nearby resorts, snowboarding and more!

Other key places to visit while you are in town include:

  • Albright-Knox Art Gallery
  • Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House Complex
  • Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Serviceman's Park
  • Darien Lake Six Flags Theme Park
  • Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site

Buffalo is also home to some of the world’s best cuisine, including the “original” chicken wing!  In the summer there are festivals for just about every taste including the annual Allentown Art Festival, the Buffalo Niagara Guitar Festival and a Taste of Buffalo where you can enjoy everything from beef-on-weck to flaming hot wings!  Buffalo's is also famous for its night life.  On Friday and Saturday nights you can take in a Sabres game at HSBC Arena or just enjoy time with friends at one of our many downtown establishments.  Buffalo has also produced a lot of famous artists, including the Goo Goo Dolls who even have a studio right here in downtown Buffalo!

Take some time while visiting Villa Maria College to really experience the sites, sounds, food and friendly people of Buffalo and Western New York.  Once you're here, you'll feel like you never left home!
